We have gotten into the Road Trip scene recently. It's a perfect way to not worry about how much your packing, or stress about catching transportation, or having to navigate overcrowded airports and train stations. WE have been fortunate too! Due to Josh having multiple job trainings we have had the opportunity to road trip through some awesome American country that we wouldn't otherwise have planned to. Out most recent road trip.....
Raleigh -> Charlottesville -> Bridgewater ->Niagara-on-the-Lake -> Niagara Falls -> Detroit -> Columbus -> Asheville

We have loved all our stops on this Texas/Tennessee road trip. However, we can honestly say that Austin is definitely at the top of the list. It was a wonderful way to end our two week road trip. Filled with great food, vibrant energy and beautiful scenery, Austin left us wanting more of this Capital, Texan city.
We had very limited time in this musical, food inspired town. So, we had to make the most of it by making sure we were on a tight schedule that would ensure we saw everything we wanted to see in such a short period of time. Things you can't miss:
1. See the Bat's on the Congress Avenue Bridge:
The next stop on our road trip venture was all the way in the great state of TEXAS! This was probably one of my most anticipated stops. My younger sister had been in Texas for weeks and we were finally going to visit! So, not only do I love a good road trip, but it begins to exceed excitement when you include family too! My entire family had made the journey (by plane) to San Antonio and we were all about to be in a NEW place at the same time. My jitters were filled with thrill and joy. Plus, I was pretty excited about seeing my sister for the first time in months.
After leaving Memphis, our next stop on our 4000 mile journey was Birmingham, Alabama. Josh had a training in Birmingham, so we would spend the next four days getting to know this town pretty well. Birmingham seemed to fit into our musical, historical theme that we had been journeying thus far so we were grateful for the option of having this as a stop.
Memphis was just too much to write about in one post so, as we embarked on our fourth day of our 4000 mile Road Trip, I begin my fourth blog entry. I promise I'm not planning on doing a blog write up for each day. Just for each town. Some deserved longer/more posts than others.
We woke up after a perfect nights rest in Memphis, we were all gitty because of the amazing day we had the day before! After eating breakfast at our hotel we took off to explore. This time we drove away from downtown to find the I <3 Memphis mural and the historically known Lorraine Hotel where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. |
