I will be back tracking a tad with this post. When I was in college, back in 2010, I studied in the beautifully vibrant ITALIA for a little over four months! It is a gorgeous land with a heart bigger than any place I've traveled to before. The people are friendly, the architecture is rich and the food is delightful. Let's not even start with the art and history!
I spent over four months actually studying the lovely art that this European land offers and the history that was established along with it. However, one past time that could NOT be ignored throughout our journeys in this land were the wine tastings. While abroad we were wine tasting whenever possible. Being directly beside the countryside of Chianti, it was not challenging to find a good vineyard or to expand ones knowledge of the intellectual art that comes with creating tasteful whites and reds. One vineyard that I went to while studying held a special place in my soul, even to this day. Perhaps it was because this was the first vineyard I took my grandma to when she came over for her visit. Perhaps it was the home style hospitality put into the functioning of the grounds. Perhaps it was the romance that so apparently broke through when hearing the story about the beginning of this establishment and the couple that runs it. Whatever it may be, Tenuta Casanova, in the heart of Chianti stole a piece of my heart. It doesn't have to be recommended that you go if and when you visit. I hope that this post has already convinced you without my stating the obvious. I remember stepping out of the van that carried myself, my grandma and many other fellow wine lovers to this country home, and taking a deep breath. I thought to myself how poetic and adventurous this lifestyle must be! The couple who runs the vineyard will discuss their lifestyle prior to their wine making days. I remember being fascinated at their wit and guts that it must have taken when creating their perfect new way of living.
While you are visiting Tenuta Casanova, be educated on the vineyards soil, grapes and barrel productions. Also, participate in a wine tasting in their luxurious home (seen above) complete with stone fireplaces, delicious, uniquely prepared food and traditional Italian architecture. I remember being given chick peas and ice cream while tasting. I won't spoil the little surprises that made it absolutely perfect and just right for place. You must go and find out on your own! But, while you're also there you should participate in a cooking class, offered right in their home and take a stop in their store to purchase some of their unique goods!
Every ounce of this place is created with passion, love and talent. Something that is hard to find in any business these days. Just being there makes you feel more alive! I can't wait to go back and I just hope that anyone reading this will take the opportunity to introduce the magic of Tenuta into their own lives. Go to Italy! Go to Chianti! Go to Tenuta Casanova! You can check them out or research them more on their webpage. They also offer donation opportunities and online purchasing of products! What a treat and privilege to even know this place.
