2018 - Waving goodbye!

Welcome 2019! You were awaited and are excitingly embraced! Every year as we close out a chapter and begin a new one we like to take some time to reflect and share about all of the adventures and opportunities that the Lord has provided for us throughout the year. We recap on our travels and most treasured moments. It's always one of our favorite things to do. But, seeing as we were in mid air, heading towards the other side of the world when the clock struck midnight we haven't had a chance to take a glimpse back at 2018 until now.

As we think back on the incredible year we had we must recognize first and foremost how immeasurably grateful we are for Gods grace, guidance and provision on our lives. Even throughout seasons where unexpected events took place, roadblocks caused detours or changes have pushed us to alter our plans we have been provided for and cared for by His grace and mercy. For this we are grateful!
With that being stated, we must address that 2018 was a year of change. It proved to be filled with multiple challenges, trials and at times heartache. Throughout many times during this year we found ourselves clinging to one another and to prayer. Never underestimate the power of prayer and the support of those you love! We wouldn't change these obstacles for anything though, because as we embrace a new chapter, we recognize the strength and perseverance these challenges helped us develop. We leave one phase of life far more equipped than the previous one. Isn't that what living is all about? We should always strive for growth! So, we thank you 2018. You helped us with this component.
2018 was also a season that forced us to prioritize. We had many opportunities to question and learn from those questions. We entered 2018 with the desire to learn more about our purpose. We wanted, and still desire to be intentional with all that we do. This means that we are not satisfied with simply going through our day to day routines without questioning what greater purpose we serve. How is our presence in this world impacting others and the world on a broader scale and how are we being an impact for the gospel? These have been primary topics of discussion throughout our year and I'm sure will continue throughout the years to come.
Family was a consistent presence throughout our year. Not that every year is not a year of family because we are extremely close with our family and grateful for all they are to us. However, throughout 2018 we found ourselves embraced and encouraged by our families often. This is something that we both love and value. We have been grateful for those moments. This year we are especially remembering loved ones who went to be in Heaven this year.

2018 has challenged us in our day to day jobs. A few years ago we sincerely discussed the concept of taking a year or two off from our jobs of teaching and engineering to travel the world and work remotely. We chose not to do that and to prioritize travel while still maintaining those nine to fives. We have been grateful for this decision because it has allowed us to be closer to family and loved ones. However, we saw an increase in time demands from our jobs throughout this year which is something we have been learning from. We are hopeful in God's vision for our lives and the strength that we have gained from these many opportunities to grow.
Last, but of course not least, 2018 brought some wonderful, memorable adventures and travels. We began the year with a Sierra Nevada mountain adventure and ended the year in the air as we were flying across the Pacific ocean en route to Australia. Our journey's have been timeless, our love is stronger than ever and our faith is consistently growing. I'd say that 2018 is another year for the books!
Take a moment to look back on some of our greatest moments.

It is so great to see that despite your decision not to leave your 9 to 5 jobs you had the opportunity to do so much travelling together. Stay blessed.

Sometimes it's not easy to welcome a new year when you've lost loved ones in previous ones. It can be a reminder of those you've left in the past as well.
