A couple of years ago I (Mo) had the amazing experience of being able to study abroad in the heart of Tuscany in the town of Siena, Italy. Really, this was the beginning of a love-affair that has yet to cease. I was "bit-by-the-bug" some may say. It was, for the first time, I had been struck with the passion that comes from recognizing how vast the world really is and how much wander there is in every single glance. I wanted to see more, learn more and experience more of what this world had to offer, and it all began with Italia!
One of the cool things that we like to capture about the places that we visit is the local flora. Every place is unique and there is just something magical about capturing the image of a breathtaking bloom or unique plant species from various parts of the world. We are not by any means botanist so chances are we won't be able to tell you the name of any of our featured plants.
2016 has certainly been one for the books! We have been blessed beyond measure with good health, a beautiful family, terrific friends, and loads of adventures! It is nearly impossible to capture all of the thrilling, exciting, humorous moments but we are going to try in this photo essay. We hope you enjoy .... and.... Happy New Years!
I (Mo) grew up a few miles up the road from the Outer Banks (Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head). Therefore, returning for a long weekend with the family was just like returning to a second home. Growing up my family had an oceanfront cottage in Kill Devil Hills. Many of my memories as a child were located on the sands of the Outer Banks. Building sandcastles, collecting seashells, boogyboarding, Quagmires, the list goes on and on. This aspect of familiarity made returning for this visit even more special!
This week's capture is brought to you from the heart of downtown Detroit, a great American city full of stunning architecture and character.
There are few things that offer a better view and more relaxation than a good oceanside beach scene. This one comes to you from along the Outer Banks of North Carolina on a very cold windy day. Not really the ideal conditions for swimming or sunbathing but it's the kind of day that is perfect for enjoying the raw power and beauty of the Atlantic.
The Capture of the Week this week is brought to you from the shores of Manteo, North Carolina. Mo and I took this on a recent weekend trip to the Outer Banks. The Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse has been an important landmark to the coastal town of Manteo since 1877 and is well worth the stop on your next trip!
> Jo Where: St. Andrews, Scotland
What better way to experience Scotland than to go spend some time in a charmingly quaint and historic town? Many know it as the "home of golf" and have spent several Sunday afternoons laying on the couch witnessing it's scenery in the background of the tube as the great golf icons of the day battle it out for the Claret Jug. For those of you who feel completely lost right about now do not fret because there are plenty of non golf related sights to go around in this picturesque small town in the Kingdom of Fife. |
