In the heart of a tiny island that few have read or heard of, yet not as many have had the privilege of visiting sits a historical treasure. Recently renovated and upscaled, 76th and Main Bed and Breakfast is a perfect blend of modern chic mixed with historical mystery.
I always wanted to stay in a Bed and Breakfast. Since I became an adult and began my travels I just always pictured myself engaging in local conversation with the owners of a grand, Victorian Bed and Breakfast, sipping coffee or lounging in an outdoor seat embracing the local culture of wherever I may be. 76th and Main was my first experience and REALLY did it excel beyond my expectations.
From the moment my husband and I stepped off the bus and began our walk through the quaint, cobble streets of Nantucket, we were overwhelmed with the loveliness and quaintness that enveloped this community. Our expectations continued to escalate as we stepped on the front stoop of the beautiful, white historical home located at 76 Main Street.
It is beyond evident that this Bed and Breakfast host memories and history beyond what the decor and updates hide. The inside is completely updated to a modern comfort, relaxing feel. Who needs upscale resorts to feel glamorous? Try a fabulous, quaint inn that has hosted well known visitors for years. Or, a stylish restored inn that is complete with white robes in the bathroom and tea and coffee down the grand staircase. Can you catch my drift? We felt as if we were completely living beyond our means our entire stay there. A life of luxury for our entire visit! And the BEST part, it is so reasonably priced that we didn't feel the least bit guilty dining at one of the islands upscale restaurants in our finest clothing one evening. The managers at 76th and Main were excellent! Just one of the multiple perks we found with staying here. They were more than willing to help. In fact, they would even help without us asking sometimes. One of the managers actually took twenty minutes out of his evening to catch the perfect picture of us two love birds posed on the magnificently wood crafted stairway. The location was perfect as well. We walked everywhere we went and the majority of what we needed consisted of us going one or two blocks. It is almost in the heart of downtown. Convenient to EVERYTHING! We were even able to get to and from both ends of the island with a short taxi or bus ride. However, the heart of the town is where you will find most of your shops and restaurants. So, why not stay close to convenience? We loved our stay at 76th and Main so much that as our first anniversary slowly approaches, we laugh at the serious thought of perhaps returning to this luxurious inn.
Go to their website and plan your next trip. Keep in mind, that memorial weekend host an annual boat race. The small, usually quiet, quaint town becomes an engulfed lively filled festivity. We happened be there memorial weekend and had a blast! We were still able to enjoy our peace and quiet when needed but also enjoyed the excitement that seemed to fill the town. This may help you with planning you trip dates!
If the beauty, small town water front town is a place you're looking at for your next trip I would seriously recommend looking in visiting Nantucket. If you do decide to experience this hidden charm make sure you attempt to stay at the lovely 76th & Main Bed and Breakfast!
